Removing Persistent Odors After Water Damage in Your Hardin County Property
One element of restoration is the combating of smells referred to in the industry as removing odors. Unpleasant aromas can come from several sources. Sometimes, the odor is residing inside furniture or wall cavities but only becomes noticeable once the water has loosened pre-existing grime or soiling. There are also microbes present in water which may be odorous themselves or, if the water is contaminated, then raw sewage, animal carcass or mold could be causing odor.
After water damage in Elizabethtown, there may be several different sources contributing to odor. Sometimes an odor disperses naturally once the property is dry. Our technicians can mobilize a range of tools such as industrial water extraction equipment, air movers, or dehumidifiers to dry your home. We may even use a drying tent, to isolate a particular area and provide concentrated drying techniques- this process can sometimes quarantine sources of odor as well.
After a property has dried, you may find that odors persist. Since the source of an odor is tough to pin down, we may need to use a multi-faceted approach to controlling it. We can place deodorizing pellets inside cavities which can mask an odor until it disperses naturally and no longer poses a problem. In situations where odor persists, we may combine thermal fogging or light deodorant sprays to surfaces in general. Both methods can be instrumental in pairing with odors and neutralizing them rather than covering up the smell.
Our trained technicians are capable of controlling immediate odors in your home, but can also take steps to ensure future odor problems are kept to a minimum. During service, we can apply anti-microbial treatments to surfaces, carpets, and flooring. If repainting is required, we can create a base layer using special anti-microbial paint to prevent mold from forming and causing issues.
Our technicians communicate with you every step of the way and can pass on an inventory of work completed to your insurance adjuster on your behalf. Contact SERVPRO of Hardin/Larue Counties at (270) 360-0448.
